Shirlita McFarland

Shirlita McFarland coach, client and fan engagementAs RCI’s Engagement Rover, Shirlita McFarland’s position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including research and marketing functions, connecting with roving coaches and supplier diversity representatives, managing the registration of Roving Coach into supplier diversity databases, and assisting the Executive Rovers as needed.

After attending the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, Shirlita began a 20-year career in Traffic Management at WKIX Radio, WRAL TV, and WRDC TV, seven years in advertising and marketing support at EB&A Advertising, and later became a proofreader at GlaxoSmithKline. Her proficiency in oral and written communication, business administration, organization, and teamwork have equipped her to handle the exciting challenges of a phenomenal start-up like RCI. Shirlita’s expertise in corporate communications and database management will reinforce the company’s growth and success. These attributes, along with a positive and encouraging attitude, affirmed her affiliation with Roving Coach International.

In 2007, Shirlita won the Intergeneration Foundation’s Annual Storytelling Award for her short story, The Sound of Memories, and followed that in 2008 with the publication of her first novel, Sunday Morning Secrets. She is proud to have been chosen as a contributing author for the 2011 edition of “Great Lives from History: African Americans,” one of the anthologies published by Salem Press. Additionally, she has served as a motivational speaker for The Encouraging Place, a local non-profit that celebrates the bond of womanhood.

Shirlita is the mother of two young adults and resides with her husband in Raleigh, NC.
