Rovie motivational coaching mascotSo where was I? Oh yeah! I was saying how cool it would have been if Roving Coach had been named after me! Anyway, I founded Roving Coach International! (Hey, it’s my story.) I am actually a coach who started coaching for one very important reason – I saw an opportunity in this “dog eat dog” world to help people help themselves and have a better experience at work. That’s it. No other reason. And coaching does that. Helps people help themselves, that is. Once I realized that, I couldn’t stop waggin’ my tail (LOL, yeah, you wish you had one, too!).

Now, don’t get me wrong; companies and corporations of all sizes are doing a LOT of great things to support and grow their employee base – including coaching! But why isn’t everyone using coaching as a tool? My goal, being the loyal and collaborative pup that I am, is for EVERYONE to have access to coaching! I said to myself, “Self? Why is coaching usually offered only to executives? (No offense Mr. or Ms. Executive, and thank you for paying that last invoice by the way – we really appreciate your business:-) And then I said to myself, “Self? Why not offer coaching to everyone?”

You see, I hear a lot of feedback in this profession like, “I feel like I’m being kept on a short leash….” Or sometimes I’ll pick up on some water bowl talk such as, “Every time that manager starts walking towards me I feel like rolling over and playing dead!” And once I overheard someone say, “Why don’t I ever get any treats anymore? Feels like a dog and pony show with no ‘Best in Show’ prize!”

You and I both know we can’t change things or people that are frustrating us; we can only change ourselves, but we CAN ask for help in figuring out the best way we’d like to experience others, situations, or maximize opportunities.

Smart dogs have trainers, smart employees have coaches! I share with you my humble story because once I started helping others out as a coach, I realized that if I could help them change their perspectives then maybe they’d stop running into the electric collar fence! Oh, believe me! You don’t want to know how that feels! (Or maybe you already do.) Besides, everyone wants a coach!

So run! Fetch your CEO, and jump on the porch with the big dogs who are using Roving Coach as a great new benefit for their employees!

My name is Rovie. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
